Doorstep Crafts Makes a Splash at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week

Well, it’s that time of year again when New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) electrifies the entire city. Entrepreneurs come from across the state and even the country to participate in what has been dubbed “the Mardi Gras of entrepreneurship” by USA Today. NOEW started in 2009 as a program to engage MBAs and corporate volunteers. Since then, it has become a full-on festival complete with celebrity speakers, live music, pitch competitions, and of course, hundreds of entrepreneurs.

Doorstep Crafts was chosen to participate in the first day of NOEW’s “Startup Catalyst Showcase.” Once there, we met other entrepreneurs, investors, and members of the media, and pitched our company. Strapped with our Louisiana String Art craft (we know how to pander to a crowd), we convinced everyone about the merits of Doorstep Crafts’ mission.

With a small crowd around our display table, we gave two successful interviews to the media. The first interview was to NolaVie magazine on the use of paper business cards in a digital age. The second interview was a piece of a documentary about entrepreneurship in New Orleans that is still under production. We are very excited to get this kind of press and exposure and know that we will be participating in NOEW again next year!
